According to Strategies Unlimited, the High Brightness (HB) segment of the Solid State Lighting (SSL) market, which includes high illumination applications such as street lights and stadium lighting, is growing at approximately 30% C.A.G.R., and is estimated to reach $19 billion by 2014 . Yole Development estimates the LED portion of the HB/UltraHB SSL Market will be $2.6 billion by 2014 . Further, Pike Associates suggests that approximately 50% of all commercial HB applications will utilize SSL LEDs by 2020 . Substantial reduction in cost by the elimination of bulky reflectors, lenses and heat sinks, and improvement in efficiency and direction of LED –SSL products, will accelerate market adoption and growth, particularly in the high brightness, directed light segment.
